Running a baseball team is expensive. Even an amateur one! Each team in the Cape Cod Baseball League must raise funds for uniforms, equipment and travel expenses. On top of that, the team players need to be housed and find summer jobs. One of the biggest expenses Cape League teams face are wooden bats. All Cape Cod Baseball League teams use them. For most players, this is their first exposure to these kinds of bats. In fact, this is what makes the Cape League so attractive to scouts.

Host parents are families that house a ball player during the season. Many host parents stay in touch with past players as they make their way to the big leagues and beyond. Some parents have attended former player's weddings! As you can see, the rewards last longer than the summer season.
